Microsoft ha depositato due nuovi brevetti intressanti: il primo riguarda un dispositivo borderless e il secondo un device con una batteria intelligente per una ricarica rapida.

Il brevetto, registrato da USPTO il 21 agosto e depositato da Microsoft nel 2016, si riferisce a un dispositivo borderless, il nuovo trend del mercato. Anche Microsoft sta evidentemente studiando questo tipo di soluzioni per eventuali futuri device, portatili, tablet o altri dispositivi mobile della gamma Surface.

Display modules are used in various electronic devices, such as portable or mobile devices. Such devices may have a significant dead border, i.e. the area from outer edges of the device to the active area of the display module. The dead border may be formed by the inactive area of the display module, often referred to as black matrix, the mechanics around the display module, and any screen printing of the window covering the display module.

An electronic device having two or more opposing sides is disclosed. The electronic device may comprise a display module having a width and a length, a window on the display module, and a frame at least partly surrounding the display module. The frame may comprise, at two or more opposing sides of the electronic device, a side portion and an upper portion on an upper side of the electronic device, the upper portion extending a determined distance from the side portion towards the opposing side of the electronic device and ending at an inner edge of the upper portion, and the inner edge of the upper portion defining an opening having a width smaller than the width of the display module. The display module may have an active area and an inactive area adjacent to the active area and at the periphery of the display module.

The display module may be disposed within the frame so that at least a part of the inactive area is disposed below and covered by the upper portion of the frame, at least a part of the active area being visible through the opening, and the window may be disposed in the opening.

Batteria intelligente per ricarica rapida

Il brevetto, registrato da USPTO il 23 agosto e depositato da Microsoft nel 2017, si riferisce a una batteria intelligente per la ricarica rapida, applicabile a eventuali futuri device, come portatili, tablet o altri dispositivi mobile della gamma Surface.

Users have access to an ever-increasing variety of portable computing devices with which the users interact on any given day. For example, users may carry a mobile phone and tablet, a portable music player, wearable devices (e.g., a watch, band, or other wearable), and so on. Further, these computing devices may include additional peripheral devices used to expand the functionality of the computing devices, such as powered headphones, an active stylus, cursor control devices (e.g., a mouse or trackpad), dedicated game controllers, and so forth.

Methods and devices are described for charging a smart battery in a computing device. The methods and devices may include determining, by a battery management controller, a charging configuration for managing one or more battery modules of the smart battery and transmitting a charging configuration signal to one or more battery modules of the smart battery.

The methods and devices may include receiving, by at least one of a plurality of charging coils, power from a wireless signal based on the wireless signal coupling energy to at least one of the plurality of charging coils at a frequency as the at least one of the plurality of charging coils and charging at least one battery module connected to a respective one of the plurality of battery control boards in response to a respective one of the plurality of charging coils receiving the power from the wireless signal.
